Introduction
Contigra is a CI/CD platform written in Rust. You describe a pipeline as a graph of stages and steps, and Contigra resolves dependencies, runs independent steps in parallel, caches results, and executes every job in an isolated container.
It can run entirely on your machine through the CLI, or across many machines with a central server and a fleet of runners.
The four components
| Component | Binary | Role |
|---|---|---|
| CLI | contigra |
Create, preview, and run pipelines. Diagnose your setup. |
| Server | contigra-server |
gRPC orchestrator: job queue, runner registry, mTLS. |
| Runner | contigra-runner |
Executes jobs in sandboxed containers. |
| MCP server | contigra-mcp-server |
Exposes Contigra to AI tools via the Model Context Protocol. |
A pipeline in thirty seconds
contigra init --template rust # create a contigra.toml
contigra plan # preview the execution graph
contigra run # execute it
Where to go next
- Core concepts: pipelines, stages, steps, and the execution graph.
- Pipelines: the
contigra.tomlformat. - CLI: the commands you will use every day.
- Server & runners: running Contigra across machines.
- Caching and Security.
These docs are an overview of the public surface of Contigra. Contigra is under active development, so details may change.
